Kick-off: 1900, 04/08/2019

Stadium: Camp Nou

Arsenal have enjoyed a decent pre-season campaign but face a tough test when taking on Barcelona for the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants have come out on top in this contest for the past six years, scoring 28 times and conceding only twice in those fixtures.

We’re going with 27/20 for a home win and over 3.5 goals in the game as our opening Barcelona vs Arsenal prediction.

A Look At Barcelona’s Betting Odds

This will be the 54th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy and the match is traditionally used to give Barcelona supporters a first chance to see new signings.

Frenkie De Jong and Antoine Griezmann are this summer’s major recruits, so far, and they will be keen to make an instant impression.

Ernesto Valverde said: “The fans are looking forward to the presentation of the new signings, playing in their own stadium.

“There is always a good atmosphere at this game, with people looking forward to watching some football after the summer break.

“We’re hoping it’s a good party, as always, and that everyone is happy at the end.”

Looking at the Barcelona vs Arsenal odds, the hosts are 19/20 to score at least three goals for the seventh straight renewal of this event.

A Look At Arsenal’s Betting Odds

Arsenal have already had plenty of warm-up games and did especially well in the International Champions Cup.

Despite fielding youthful teams, the Gunners beat Bayern Munich 2-1 and Fiorentina 3-0, before only losing to Real Madrid on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

A 2-1 loss to Lyon in the Emirates Cup on home turf was a touch disappointing, but they were deserved leaders at half-time before making changes.

Club record capture Nicolas Pepe and loan star Dani Ceballos are the marquee new arrivals, although rumours are rife of a move for Philippe Coutinho being discussed during this trip.

Valverde is certainly not underestimating the visitors and told Barca TV: “We’re looking forward to playing against a tough rival, who have had more of a pre-season than we have, as their league starts next week.

“Unai Emery is a coach we all know well, his teams play with intensity, they are a team which likes to play football and put pressure on you, so I think it’s an attractive opponent.”

Let’s finish off our Barcelona vs Arsenal betting tips by taking 6/5 for a home win and both teams to score, plus 19/2 for the hosts to prevail 3-1.

Incidentally, that was the scoreline when the Gunners visited Camp Nou in the Champions League three years ago and also in 2011.
