Derby looked clear second best when losing the first leg of their Championship play-off against Leeds and we can’t see County coming back from that 1-0 defeat.
The Rams were beaten 2-0 when these teams met at Elland Road during the regular season back in January and face a tough test to turn things around in Yorkshire.
We like 2/1 for the Whites to win to nil again here for our opening Leeds vs Derby prediction.
A Look At Leeds United’s Betting Odds
Kemar Roofe coolly slotted home Jack Harrison’s curling pass after 55 minutes to give United a deserved success at Pride Park.
That was the 26-year-old’s fourth foal against the Rams this term, as he also netted in the Elland Road victory and bagged a brace in last August’s 4-1 away triumph.
Roofe was denied a second by a brilliant Kelle Roos save moments after his opener, while Stuart Dallas and Jamie Shackleton both went close in the second half.
Marcelo Bielsa said: “We always play to win and I think it was a deserved win. I am really pleased with the performance.
“We dominated the ball, we defended well when we had to defend well and we attacked well when we had to attack.”
Bielsa ruled out any fears of complacency setting in ahead of the return fixture, though.
He added: “The Champions League games are a warning of what could happen. A 1-0 lead is not enough to be comfortable going into the second leg. It is an advantage, but we still have 90 minutes to play.”
Looking at the Leeds vs Derby odds, we like 33/4 for a clinical 2-0 victory by the Whites.
A Look At Derby County’s Betting Odds
Derby were left incensed by being denied a late penalty on home turf following a collision between Jayden Bogle and Jack Harrison in the box.
Referee Craig Pawson initially pointed to the spot, but then changed his decision after discussions with assistant Eddie Smart.
Frank Lampard fumed: “I think it was a close call for the penalty, but for it to be overruled by a linesman who is further away than the referee is incredible.
“The ref is the boss and he made the decision. If it is going to change, then surely it has to be because there is something clear and obviously wrong – and there wasn’t.
“Contact is minimal, but there is a foul there and I don’t understand why it was changed.”
However, no side has ever made the Championship play-off final after losing at home in the first leg, so the Rams have a mountain to climb here.
This may be a tight tussle early on, but we fear County will get picked off if they try to open up as the game goes on.
Let’s finish off our Leeds vs Derby betting tips by taking 7/2 for a draw at half-time and then United to prevail.
