Ajax to beat Roma @ Evens
This is arguably the pick of the quarter-finals and there is little to choose between them in terms of which team will progress. Ajax have been in superb form at home this season and are fancied to earn a lead to take to Italy for the second leg. The Dutch giants are unbeaten in Amsterdam since the visit of Atalanta in December, with their only setback being a 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven, and they have netted 17 goals in their last five outings at this venue. Roma have struggled on their travels in Serie A against the top teams and defeats to Parma and Napoli before the international break suggest they are worth opposing in our Europa League predictions.
Arsenal to beat Slavia Prague @ 11/20
Slavia Prague have already knocked Leicester and Rangers out of the Europa League and are now aiming to complete a British hat-trick in the quarter-finals. On both occasions, they drew the home leg and then won 2-0 in the return leg so the trip to London will not faze the Czech side, although they were hammered 7-0 on their only previous visit to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal may have to be patient but their squad possesses much more attacking talent than Slavia and the Gunners should earn a first-leg lead.
Dinamo Zagreb and Villarreal to draw @ 12/5
Spanish teams have dominated the Europa League in recent years and Villarreal look their best hope of winning the competition this season. Ten of the last 17 winners have been from La Liga and The Yellow Submarine are 5/1 third favourites in the outright betting to go all the way. Unai Emery’s men have been draw specialists in La Liga this season, though, sharing the points in almost half of their games, and they may settle for another draw in Croatia before backing themselves to get the job done on home soil.
Manchester United to win at Granada @ 8/13
The Europa League is Manchester United’s only realistic chance of winning a trophy this season and that should focus their minds ahead of the quarter-finals. United’s hectic schedule took its toll when they were knocked out of the FA Cup at Leicester prior to the international break but they have generally performed well on their travels this season. Granada have been inconsistent in La Liga this term and home defeats at the hands of Barcelona (4-0) and Atletico Madrid (2-1) suggest United are a worthy pick to complete our Europa League predictions.
