Real Madrid to beat Barcelona @ 19/10
The latest El Clasico is crucial to both teams’ chances of reeling in long-time leaders Atletico Madrid at the summit of Spain’s top flight. Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 19 matches in this competition, winning the past six, but Real impressed against Liverpool in midweek and are also on a domestic roll. The deciding factor is Madrid’s recent head-to-head record, with the Whites winning 3-1 at Camp Nou in October and 2-0 on home turf last term, so this is a value pick to start our European football tips.
AC Milan to win at Parma @ 4/6
The Rossoneri have slipped 11 points adrift of arch-rivals Inter in the Serie A title race but still have the incentive of finishing best of the rest ahead of Juventus or at least wrapping up a place in next season’s Champions League. Milan have maintained the best away record in Italy by winning three consecutive road games at Roma, Verona and Fiorentina, so let’s stick with them to now prevail at second-from-bottom Parma.
RB Leipzig to win at Werder Bremen @ 1/2
Julian Nagelsmann’s side will be hoping to rekindle their Bundesliga title prospects after last week’s top-of-the-table loss to Bayern Munich, who may be distracted by their Champions League duties when hosting Union Berlin. Leipzig have won their last three encounters with Werder Bremen by an aggregate score of 8-0, with midfielder Marcel Sabitzer netting in two of those victories.
PSG to win at Strasbourg @ 3/4
Mauricio Pochettino has the small matter of a Champions League second-leg clash with Bayern Munich to distract him, with PSG leading 3-2 from a thrilling opening encounter in Germany. However, they can’t afford to ease off in this contest now trailing Lille by three points at the Ligue 1 summit, so we’re expecting the visitors to be focused enough to get the job done. Strasbourg are a mid-table outfit and have lost seven times on home turf already this term.
AZ Alkmaar to beat Sparta Rotterdam @ 1/2
Pascal Jansen has done a fine job since taking charge of the Cheeseheads just before Christmas and they are now challenging PSV for second place behind Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie, having occupied the runners-up spot last term. Last Saturday’s 1-0 success at Willem II made it seven wins from their last eight games and was achieved despite going down to 10 men with just five minutes gone. Sparta Rotterdam have been doing well against some lesser lights of late but this is a different level.
