Burnley looked unlucky to taste defeat at Leeds over the weekend and are backed to gain compensation when entertaining Sheffield United.
The Clarets had previously picked up three wins in six Premier League games and will be eyeing another victory versus the struggling Blades, who are cut adrift at the bottom.
We’re happy to take 27/20 for a home win as our first Burnley vs Sheff Utd prediction.
A Look At Burnley’s Betting Odds
Sean Dyche was left fuming by some key refereeing decisions following Burnley’s 1-0 loss at Elland Road on Sunday, where Patrick Bamford’s early penalty proved decisive.
Dyche was not alone in feeling goalkeeper Nick Pope played the ball first in the clash which led to that spot-kick.
The Clarets were then denied an equaliser when Ashley Barnes turned the ball home, with referee Robert Jones having already blown for an alleged foul on keeper Illan Meslier by Ben Mee.
“Ben Mee does nothing other than clearly attempt to win a header,” declared Dyche. “He doesn’t even look at the man.
“The keeper comes out, knees him in the back, drops the ball and somehow that’s a foul on him – it’s an impossibility, even allowing for the protection of keepers.
“Popey got the ball. You can tell by the trajectory of the ball, so I’m amazed.
“I’m incredibly frustrated. They’re two very important decisions that have gone against us.”
Burnley applied plenty of pressure in the second period and just failed to find the final key pass or a clinical finish to force the equaliser.
That was still another battling performance, though, following on from recent victories over Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Wolves, as well as draws against high-flying Everton and Aston Villa.
Chris Wood has been a real handful up front of late and 7/2 for him to open the scoring stands out from the Burnley vs Sheff Utd odds.
Last Burnley line-up: Pope, Lowton, Taylor, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Brownhill, Westwood, Benson, Wood, Barnes.
A Look At Sheffield United’s Betting Odds
Sheffield United stayed stuck on just two points after suffering a 13th defeat in 15 Premier League matches when going down 1-0 at home to Everton.
Gylfi Sigurdsson’s 80th-minute strike did the damage at Bramall Lane in a game where chances were few and far between.
The Blades are only the third team in top-flight history to reach Boxing Day without a victory, after Burnley in 1889-90 and Bolton in 1902-03.
Chris Wilder has again urged his players to stay positive as they set about trying to pull off a great escape.
“We’ve got nothing to lose; everybody in the game will look at our position and say we’re buried,” said the manager.
“We might as well go for it and that’s my message to the players. And they have to take that on board.
“We’re only going to do it with players who can show a strength of character and a freedom to try to express themselves.”
However, there just doesn’t seem to be the quality or self-belief in this side to recover from such a woeful start to the season.
We’re adding 23/4 for a 1-0 home win to our Burnley vs Sheff Utd betting tips.
Last Sheff Utd line-up: Ramsdale, Baldock, Stevens, Basham, Egan, Robinson, Ampadu, Burke, Osborn, McGoldrick, Brewster.
