Wolves beat Chelsea at Molineux in the Premier League last season and are rated a value bet to repeat that feat when they clash on Saturday.
Both teams have been below-par in this competition so far, but home advantage and the timing of this contest may give Wanderers an edge this weekend.
The visitors take on Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday and may just be distracted by that fixture.
We reckon 39/20 for the hosts to prevail here is an attractive price for our initial Wolves vs Chelsea prediction.
A Look At Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Betting Odds
After drawing their first three Premier League matches, Wolves went into the international break smarting from a 3-2 defeat at Everton.
Romain Saiss and Raul Jimenez netted in an entertaining encounter at Goodison Park, but Richarlison’s late winner left Wanderers empty handed.
Willy Boly’s stoppage-time dismissal was another setback, but Nuno Espirito Santo refused to be too downbeat.
“The fight was there, but the Premier League is tough, it is just football,” said the head coach.
“It’s been a tough schedule against very tough teams and we know the next one will be tough, but the assessment is good, because the players have given everything they have.”
Nuno has been hampered by rotating his squad due to their Europa League involvement, but two wins over Torino in that tournament show the talent is still there.
He should be able to put his strongest line-up out here, with Braga not visiting Molineux until next Thursday, so 9/2 for a home win and both teams to score takes the eye from the Wolves vs Chelsea odds.
Last Wolves line-up: Rui Patricio, Bennett, Boly, Coady, Vinagre, Neves, Saiss, Dendoncker, Jimenez, Cutrone, Traore.
Wolves will be without suspended defender Boly, but Saiss and Matt Doherty will both be available.
A Look At Chelsea’s Betting Odds
Chelsea are unbeaten in this competition since being crushed 4-0 at Manchester United first up, but the Blues have been far from convincing, especially at the back.
Frank Lampard’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Leicester before just shading a 3-2 success at Norwich.
They then stormed into a 2-0 half-time lead over Sheffield United, thanks to a Tammy Abraham double, but the Blades hit back to claim a share of the spoils.
Lampard has set his stall out to give young players a chance but commented: “The emergence of youth is one thing, but winning games is another. When you are 2-0 up at half-time, you should win the game.
“It was under control, it is our fault for gifting them a goal in the first minute of the second half. It’s a similar story already.
“There is no chance that that game should swing like that. We gave them the possibility to hurt us. We have to take responsibility, we allowed that to happen.”
Let’s add 33/20 for the Blues to concede more than once again here to our Wolves vs Chelsea betting tips.
Last Chelsea line-up: Kepa, Zouma, Azpilicueta, Tomori, Emerson, Jorginho, Barkley, Kovacic, Mount, Pulisic, Abraham.
Chelsea will welcome back Antonio Rudiger. The Germany international has been out since April with a knee injury.
Pedro has recovered from a hamstring issue and will be available, while Mateo Kovacic is also fit for Lampard’s side. N’Golo Kante (ankle) remains sidelined.
Everton 3-2 WOLVES – Romain Saiss, Raul Jimenez
CHELSEA 2-2 Sheff Utd – Abraham (2)
Head-to-head: Chelsea 1-1 Wolves, Wolves 2-1 Chelsea
