Liverpool’s prayers have been answered once already this week and they must recover quickly as they push for the title on the final day of the Premier League season.
Tuesday night’s incredible 4-0 win against Barcelona means Jurgen Klopp’s men could still end the campaign with some well-deserved silverware even if they don’t overhaul Manchester City on Sunday.
Liverpool go into the final round of matches as 6/1 outsiders to win the title race but, as their Champions League comeback proved, stranger things have happened and the Anfield crowd will hope to witness another historic turnaround for the second time in five days.
We fancy another fast start and odds of 13/5 for the hosts to be leading after 15 minutes appeal as our first Liverpool vs Wolves prediction.
A Look At Liverpool’s Betting Odds
Liverpool are firm favourites to at least put the pressure on City with a win which would take them to 97 points yet still potentially leave them as runners-up.
The Reds cannot be accused of choking during the run-in after winning their last eight league games and they have dropped just four points at Anfield this season with draws against Manchester City and Leicester.
City looked nervous as they struggled to break down Leicester on Monday night before Vincent Kompany’s stunner eventually broke the deadlock in what could prove to be the defining moment in the title race.
Liverpool will hope an early goal causes panic to set in on the south coast and they have a good record in the early stages at Anfield, scoring 18 goals in the first half an hour this season and conceding just two goals in that time.
We expect the home side to race out of the blocks once more, just as they did on Tuesday with Divock Origi’s seventh-minute opener.
With Brighton safe from relegation, though, we expect City to wrap up the title without any scares and Liverpool’s focus could shift back to the upcoming Champions League final if it becomes clear that their title dream is over.
Should that be the case, the second half could be a tepid affair and we also like 39/20 for more goals in the first half than the second.
Last Liverpool line-up: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Milner, Shaqiri, Origi, Mane.
Mohamed Salah (concussion), Jordan Henderson (knee) and Andy Robertson (calf) are all likely to be fit for Liverpool. Roberto Firmino is still out with a groin problem.
A Look At Wolves’ Betting Odds
Wolves know all about stopping Liverpool winning trophies after knocking them out of the FA Cup in two of the last three seasons, including a 2-1 win at Molineux in January.
It is a result which may have benefited Liverpool in the long run as they challenge for glory both domestically and in Europe but Wolves have proved a thorn in the side of the top six on several occasions.
A record of four wins, four draws and just three defeats against the Premier League’s big guns in their first season back in the top flight highlights why they have been the best of the rest and secured seventh place with a game to spare.
Wolves have found the net in nine of their 11 games against the top six and have the firepower to cause Liverpool problems but they could be forgiven for easing off after such an impressive campaign.
The visitors are not expected to be the ones to stop the Reds winning the title, with events in Brighton likely to be of more significance, so a 3-1 home win at 10/1 completes our Liverpool vs Wolves betting tips.
Last Wolves line-up: Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Jonny, Jimenez, Jota.
Wolves could be unchanged, although Ruben Vinagre, Adama Traore and Helder Costa are all pushing to start after being on the bench in last week’s win over Fulham.
LIVERPOOL 4-0 Barcelona – Divock Origi (2), Georginio Wijnaldum (2)
WOLVES 1-0 Fulham – Leander Dendoncker
Head-to-head: Wolves 2-1 Liverpool, Wolves 0-2 Liverpool, Liverpool 1-2 Wolves, Wolves 0-3 Liverpool, Liverpool 2-1 Wolves
